                                                Rangoli - art form Rangoli  is an art form, originating in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are  drawn  on the floor or the ground using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. They are of two types first is the form dominant and the other is the ornamental. In form dominant type of rangoli,   lines,circles and cones are drawn proportionately.                                                           PONGAL CELEBRATION  Pongal is a  harvest fesitival which is celebrated to thank sun god Surya. It is one one of my favourite festival. It is four days festival. Bhogi, main pongal, mattu pongal. The day preceding pongal is Bhogi.  One the day of bhogi we used to get up early in the morning and we used to decard our old things in fire. This ressembles to  burning the old sins and getting ready for the fresh life.  Main pongal which is celebrated on the first day of the tamil month thai.                    Kamakshi Amman temple  Kamakshi Amman temple is located in kanchipuram. This temple is close to my heart. This is one of the 51 shakthi peetams. The main deity is Kamakshi ambaal, consort of Lord Shiva. Adi Shankarar performed pooja and did pradhistai(invoked) divine Mother in the Sri Chakra kept in the sanctum sanctorum. One should be blessed to enter Kanchipuram and to have darshan of the Ambaal. Well maintained temple with a big prahaaram and a pond. This temple is maintained by Sri Kamakoti Shankara matam.                            TIGER CAVE  The Tiger Caves are not actually caves, and tigers do not live here! These rock-cut structures with tiger-head like shapes . The Tiger caves are a part of ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) protected monuments and the venue is maintained neatly with proper parking space and lush green lawn/trees for visitors. There are no entrance fees, but there is a small parking fee. There are a few small stalls outside this venue, offering cool-drinks, tender coconut, etc. Tender coconut is healthy – you can have them anywhere in India. Cool drinks are not, if it’s not already obvious! This venue not only has fewer visitors (compared to Mahabalipuram), but it is located in a quiet, green and serene location. What is to be done to enhance the awareness of Indian culture? We need to respect all cultures. If you like your culture, Good for you, appreciate it. That being said, even if you don’t like the culture you grew up with, you must still respect it because there are many people who follow the same. You must be aware that there are others who do not share your view in how one should live. You should respect it because, to many, their culture is a large part of their identity. Culture is not only about you. It’s the beliefs of your ancestors and it was their expressions, thoughts and approach towards their lives. It has changed our way of living and collective thinking and has impacted us both positively and negatively. Are we indians losing our indian culture? I would say yes to it. One of the main reason is that the west makes products of high quality and everything they make must be of high quality isn't it? I don't know nor do I speak of other cultures but Indian culture has a lot of science behind it. Recently, i saw a post saying copper kills bacteria and using them in hospital bed railings prevents contamination.
