CLASSICAL DANCE
India's classical performing act germinated from theory. There are different forms of classical dance. They are:
BHARATNATYAN:
Bharatnatyan originated in the southern state of tamilnadu. The dance is a physical expression of mythical stories and is accompanied by classical music. Bharatnatyan has difficult footwork and dancers need to keep their upper torsos fixed during the most of the performance.
ODISSI:
Odissi is a form of expression to get immersed in,and that will transport you to a parallel world of euphoria. Odissi was born in temple of the Eastern coastal state of Orissa. Odissi is a form of dance drama and dancers(typical female)use her facial expressions and limbs to express the art form.
MOHINIYATTAM:
Mohiniyattam originated in the southern state of Kerala in india. The name comes from mythical character MOHINI--who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Mohiniyattam was infamous for being a dance form of the devadasis
KUCHIPUDI:
Kuchipudi originally was performed by men. Kuchipudi is usually accompained by musical instruments like flute,Veena and mridangam.
MANIPURI:
Manipuri originated in the north Eastern part of India. It is characterized by graceful,swaying movement and because of the unique costume. It almost looks like dolls performing on stage. It is typically a group performance.
KATHAKALI:
Kathakali, is another dance that originated in Kerala, kathakali is a difficult dance form. The performance is usually done in a theater play style and it is a one of the most complicated form of dance in India. It's takes 3 to 4 hours for artists to get ready for eveye performance.
SATTRIYA:
Sattriya originated in Assam, north Eastern of India. Sattriya is also a tale recitation using performance art.
