INDIAN CULTURE - IMPORTANCE
Individuals have personality, the same way societies have culture. Culture is something that is passed on from generation to generation. It is the identity of a person living in his own place. The word 'Culture' comprises of language, food, clothing, beliefs, rituals, behavior, customs, religion, architecture and everything. Culture also sees changes in mingling with people over the generation.
The kind of diversity of religion and culture in India is rarely seen in any other country. When the British ruled India, they conditioned Indians into believing that Indians were the primitive beings and the British culture was the way forward. Western culture is considered 'cool' whereas Indian culture is 'old and traditional'.
English is an international language, there is no doubt that anyone wants to be a great personality in this world needs to know english but that does not necessarily mean learning their native language is not equally important. So many corporates in India have banned Indian dresses like sarees and suits in the workplace to emphasize that employees wear western formals only. Why are we giving up our culture to adopt someone else's?
We agree that there is nothing wrong in adopting the good in other cultures but discarding one's own culture to adopt another is not right either. It is the duty of every individual to teach the younger generation starting from kids about the importance of culture and keep them in touch with that of India. We don't know our neighbors, who we have lived across for years, families are getting smaller and no one cares about other person anymore.
Festivals are to be celebrated with their families or the society and not through social media forward messages. It is a shame for the Indians celebrating 'Halloween' and the others don't even give a damn about ours.Only and only if the youth beleive in our valuable heritage, can India rise in the true sense.
